Founded in 1856 as a tavern, Viva madrid i a very well known centenary restaurant with more than 150 years of history. It still has the facade with colorful ceramic and the famous "Plaza Cibeles" is the inspiration of this magnificent piece of art hand painted by the Casa Mensaque in late 1920's, now a days consideres as part of the cultural heritage of Madrid. The interior retains some of the original features such a tiled tiles, coffered ceiling with harpies and tin bar.

It is located very close to the Plaza Santa Ana, in the side of the Spanish Theatre in the heart of Barrio de las Letras, downtown. Home and inspiration of the most famous and renowned writers of the Spanish literature, like Miguel de Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Francisco de Quevedo among others.

The Restaurant offers a great selection of Spanish tapas and a magnific Madrilean and Spanish cuisine. It has evolved to the rhythm of the walkers who decide to wander through the streets of of the old Madrid. During the day, the tapas and the traditional vermout hour, makes us discover this historic and well-mantained restaurant.
